Simon is the most experienced member of our Commercial Property team, having been a Partner at the firm since 2001.
Simon graduated from the University of Manchester in 1985. After his training contract finished with Punch Robson, Simon qualified into a Commercial Property role giving him more than 30 years’ experience in this area of law.
Simon specialises in commercial and residential property development, licensed trade real property and the primary care sector. Simon has advised on several large developments within the hospitality sector, including advising Benchmark Leisure Limited on their landmark water park development in Scarborough. Simon has also worked on the acquisition, funding and development of Rockliffe Hall since its inception in 2008.
Simon took part in the CEO Sleepout in 2016, raising over £1,600 for the homeless in the area by sleeping on the recreated Victorian street at Preston Hall Museum.
Simon has also been instructed in relation to the regeneration of part of historic Middlesbrough Dock including a proposed indoor snow centre, the flagship part of the development, as well as other regeneration projects in the Stockton and Middlesbrough areas.
In the Legal 500 guide, Simon’s hard work and experience were recognised as he was ranked one of the regions Leading Individuals. Simon is also identified in the Chamber and Partners guide as a Notable Practitioner. The guide stated:
“Simon Wake is head of the firm’s commercial property department and possesses great experience across a range of development matters. He frequently handles acquisitions and lease arrangements for leisure, retail and residential properties.”
