James joined the firm as a trainee solicitor in 2013 and is now a Partner within our Commercial Disputes team.
James is a partner in the firm’s commercial disputes team. He advises on a wide range of high-value and complex matters. He has a particular focus on complex litigation including breach of contract, product liability, construction disputes (including arbitration), shareholder disputes, partnership disputes, tortious claims and professional negligence.
He has a specialism in the automotive sector where he acts on a wide range of disputes for one of the UK largest franchised dealership groups. In addition, he has a following in the utilities and technology sectors. Alongside his own caseload James is an integral member of the team who assists across the department’s broad spectrum of workload as well as providing significant litigious support to the firm’s other departments when required.
James acts for a wide range of private sector clients as discussed above. He has also worked with other departments in the firm to provide specialised advice to public sector clients in respect of proposed infrastructure developments and intellectual property disputes, amongst other matters. Particular highlights include:
James is also a committee member on the Younger Guns events board.
“James Craddock is a wonderful solicitor. James approaches his cases as a commercial adviser, a lawyer, a peer, and a develops a strong sense of what is needed to achieve a client’s objectives. I cannot fault him or his judgment.’” – Legal 500 2021
“Alex Smith and James Craddock are first-rate solicitors. James is a rising star. Alex is already a well-established partner. They stand out because they are true to the firm’s ethos in bringing commercial insights to vastly complex legal disputes.” – Legal 500 2024
Being in the world of utilities, we have had our fair share of bad debtors previously using a large and well known firm to handle our affairs. Over time we became frustrated at the lack of contact and also felt like we were just a number. We have been so impressed since James has taken over our credit collection process - so much so - that we now no longer use any other legal practice.
