Laura is a Senior Associate in our Employment and HR team, with a niche specialism in providing employers with advice on Business Immigration Law.
Laura graduated from Northumbria University in 2013 and was awarded a scholarship to attend the City University of New York. Starting her training contract with the firm in 2013, she completed seats in commercial disputes, commercial property, corporate and commercial and finally employment, where she chose to focus her career once qualified.
Laura rejoined the firm in 2016 after spending some time increasing her employment expertise at a Newcastle based firm.
Laura has a wealth of experience in dealing with Employment Tribunal claims for a range of clients, on a variety of issues such as unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal, breach of contract, whistleblowing and complex discrimination cases. In doing so she has developed a keen understanding of clients’ businesses and is acutely aware of the commercial reality of Tribunal litigation.
Laura also deals with general day to day HR issues for a number of clients in different sectors, such as drafting contracts of employment/service agreements, tailoring bespoke policies, managing complex investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, redundancies and sickness management procedures.
Laura also relaunched the firm’s Navigate HR offering which provides clients with unlimited telephone or email advice on HR matters for a fixed fee per month. Further information on Navigate HR is available here.
As well as dealing with general employment work, Laura specialises in Business Immigration Law. She has experience in assisting businesses to become licenced sponsors to enable the recruitment of skilled individuals from overseas, advising employers on their obligations in relation to the immigration rules and the prevention of illegal working and supporting employers on immigration issues arising from the employment relationship.
Our organisation was more than happy with the work carried out by Endeavour – Laura Kirkpatrick in dealing with a complex HR case. Laura brought a clear focus and high degree of professionalism in order to produce a positive outcome for the organisation and maintained the highest levels of professionalism when communicating with the management team here. We would have no problem in recommending the work to other organisations in the sector.
