Posted by Lotty Reeves on 3rd June 2014

Endeavour Partnership, advised client, Benchmark Leisure, on its plans for a multi-million seaside water park in Scarborough which has just been given final approval by Scarborough Council.

The park, to include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, water rides and a spa, is expected to open in 2016. The developers are hoping it will attract about 500,000 visitors to the site which is being built on the former Burniston Road car park. The park will be run by German company, Alpamare and it is being part-financed by a loan facility provided by Scarborough Council.

The plans for developing the water park have been several years in preparation. Once it is completed, Benchmark has plans to build a number of log cabins, before starting work on a holiday village on top of the cliff.

Simon Wake, partner and head of Endeavour Partnership’s property team, advised Roland Duce of Benchmark throughout the deal. “This is a huge investment project for Scarborough which will see it become one of the North East’s major tourist attractions. We are delighted to have been involved.”
