We’ve celebrated another International Women’s Day in style at Crathorne Hall, showcasing the achievements of local businesswomen whilst raising money for Breast Cancer Care.
For the second year running, we were joined by over 100 women from across Teesside to enjoy an afternoon organised under the IWD theme ‘Press for Progress’, debating topics with our specially-selected panel including gender equality, equality of opportunity in the workplace and women’s role in society.
Our panel of high-profile local women who have exceeded in business or have overcome significant, personal challenges in other aspects of their lives included Valda Goodfellow of Goodfellow and Goodfellow, Councillor Sue Jeffrey, the leader of Redcar and Cleveland Council, and Stockton-based Joanna Wake, the founder of the Big Teesside Sleepout and RAW Digital Training, all hosted by Caroline Theobald CBE.
We also heard from Laura Ashurst, a speaker for Breast Cancer Care who told the inspiring and personal story of her diagnosis and recovery. As well as raising awareness of the charity we also donated the money raised from our raffle, resulting in the amount of £770!
