Teesside firms join forces to advise on European acquisition of specialist UK engineering firm

Posted by Lotty Reeves on 17th February 2020

Teesside accountants Baines Jewitt and solicitors from The Endeavour Partnership were called on by German engine management specialist Heinzmann Holdings GmbH to assist them with a UK acquisition that continues Heinzmann’s aspirations to grow further.

Trevor Cook and Nigel Williams respectively led a team advising Heinzmann on the acquisition of Southampton based Giro Engineering Holdings Limited, a manufacturer of high-pressure fuel injection pipes.

Founded in 1897, Heinzmann now boasts a combined total of fifteen global subsidiaries, including eight production sites and an international distributor network. The product portfolio comprises engine management system solutions, as well as exhaust gas treatment solutions, for industrial combustion engines and turbines; it also encompasses automation systems, primarily for the shipping industry.

“Heinzmann have been a client for many years” said Trevor Cook “and they frequently call on us for input in respect of their UK operations, as well as projects such as the Giro acquisition. They know they will get the advice and support they need from us.”

Nigel Williams said “We were delighted to be given the opportunity to assist this global operator with their exciting acquisition. The skills and expertise on Teesside are worth shouting about and it was great to work locally with colleagues from Baines Jewitt, as well as the client team in Germany, led by Marc Schäfer, Heinzmann’s Head of Finance and Accounting.”

Markus Gromer, the CEO of HEINZMANN said “The fuel injection pipework products of Giro are an ideal complement to the existing product range of the group, providing application tailored system solutions with forward-looking technology to the diesel engine industry. Our UK advisory team led by Trevor and Nigel supported us throughout the process and we are hoping to work with them again very soon.”
