Middlesbrough Mayor Andy Preston hosted an event to share his vision for The Digital City with the business community. Amongst the plans will be an office complex boasting unrivalled views of the Tees region and the tallest office building between Leeds and Glasgow.
The £230 million investment is due to start in August 2020, opening its doors for business in 2022. Incorporating state of the art facilities, the office space is expected to house some of the region’s biggest organisations whilst also providing meeting facilities and hot desk options.
Interest for the commercial space is already high and Andy announced Teesside’s largest commercial law firm, The Endeavour Partnership, as one of the first tenants to commit to office space in Boho X. Accompanying them will be e-commerce specialist Visualsoft as well as Middlesbrough College, Northern Stable and Logic Architecture, the organisation responsible for the proposed design work of The Digital City.
Nik Tunley, Partner at The Endeavour Partnership said: “The plans for The Digital City are ambitious but we have confidence in Middlesbrough Mayor Andy and his team to deliver. As business evolves, we are committed to exploring and staying ahead of the curve. Our specialist digital team has vast experience of supporting the growing digital sector in the region with their legal requirements and it makes sense for us to have a presence in Boho X.”
Andy Preston added: “The development is attracting big businesses and this commitment from The Endeavour Partnership shows their dynamic approach. In addition to the business complex, we are proposing to build 120 executive apartments creating a metropolis within the Tees Valley.”
Tees Valley Mayor, Ben Houchen, has been instrumental in ensuring the transport network is in place to support travel for business visitors. The proposed work to Middlesbrough Station will allow for direct trains to and from the capital as well as other major cities within the UK and mean visitors to The Digital City will be within a 1 minute of the station. The introduction of daily flights from London City Airport to Teesside International Airport will add to the growing transport links, just 20 minute’s drive away from Boho X.
